Decision Made - Crank Up The Car!!

Today brought the news that this bad winter weather is for sure headed to Nashville. And I am bound and determined to get out of here – I have a cruise to go on this Saturday! This morning began with Molly and I texting back and forth about what we should do. We decided to wait until 10am to make a decision. And so we did.

Our final decision was to load up the car and head south – and somewhere along the line we added Everley and Lindley to the travel party (if the weather comes in as predicted, day care will be cancelled and day-care-backup, aka LaLa's House, will be in a car headed South). So, I hastily packed and prepared a road trip travel box and talked with Lynnette and Maribeth and the plan was made. Maribeth would pick up Lindley and Everley from school around 3:00pm, Molly would come home from work, I would get enough clothes for the girls to last a day or two (Sam and Lynnette are scheduled to fly down Thursday afternoon and Maribeth is scheduled to fly down with KB on Friday afternoon), and we would load up Maribeth’s mini van and hit the road by 5pm.

And so we did, joining the six billion Nashvillians who were also leaving town at 5pm. It had started raining, which made traffic even more wonderful. Eventually we got out of the rain, stopped just south of Chattanooga for a Sonic break, and got to our hotel just south of Atlanta.

Along the way, we managed to manage several crises, such as the fact that one child’s iPad had movies, while the other child’s iPad did not, Maribeth’s car would not charge iPhone 6, and the fact that it took 20 minutes and several gymnastic moves by the co-pilot to figure out how to work the DVD player in the car. We also had a rather heated debate as to whether we were going to watch "Toy Story 2" or "The Little Mermaid", which was solved when the co-pilot decided we would be watching "Up". And then Lindley lost the lid to her cup-o-cookies while Everley still had hers. And then Lindley and Everley discussed babies and childbirth – Everley said she wanted a baby but Lindley told her it really hurt to have a baby and Everley needed to wait until she was much much older. Meanwhile, Pilot and Co-Pilot remained mum on the subject.

Meanwhile back in Nashville, flights were being cancelled, including the ones we considered taking instead of driving. So I guess we made the right decision. Anyhow, we got everyone into the hotel room, changed into pjs, and piled into bed – well after a period of jumping on beds and such. Sweet dreams until we begin again tomorrow!!

Today is a gift because:  taking baby E to school; chatting with the cleaning dude and having a clean house; planning to drive to Atlanta; snowy weather not where we were
