The Next Thing

It seems that often I am working toward "the next thing."  It's either the next project, or the next trip, or the next plan, or the next whatever.  I envision it like "the next thing" is a bridge over which time (which would be the water) is rushing underneath and past, while I am still trying to get to the next thing.

In other words, I never get there.  Just when I get to the next thing, there's another next thing just ahead of it, waiting for me to get to it.  Meanwhile, time just keeps rushing past while I just seem to look at it go.

In other words, it's the middle of April, which is four months into this year, and although I've gotten to lots of next things, there are still too many next things that I want to get to.  And time just keeps going past faster and faster.

So what shall I do?  First, I need to stop thinking about the next thing and focus on the right now.  There are bazillions of right now things that I can do and still slow down the right now so that I can appreciate each moment.  Because when you really think about it, this moment is the most important one.
