Runnin' Buds

This is a small contingent of the larger group that I refer to as "my running club." There is great variety in our individual paces and finish times, but that doesn't stop us from entering the same races. We just wait around at the finish for everyone to get done (well, I don't wait at the finish - I like to think my job is to bring up the rear and make sure everyone gets in).

There are many kinds of running clubs that help you improve your pace, or lengthen your long runs, or give you a lot of great running advice. But I think the best running club is one that encourages you to keep at it, no matter how great the difference in pace. After all, somebody's got to bring the doughnuts, somebody's got to find the races, somebody's got to plan the transportation, and somebody's got to design the shirts and/or tutus.

And in the end, somebody's got to have the fastest time and somebody's got to the have the slowest. But the best thing is that we all celebrate all the finish times together - and then finish the pre-race doughnuts!
